NOFT is a local social organization centered around the concept of FreeThought: a way of looking at the world that holds that beliefs should be formed on the basis of science and logic, and not influenced by emotion, authority, tradition, coercion, dogma or established belief. Freethinking is the driving force behind virtually all major social, economic and technological progress.

Are you skeptical of faith and supernatural or superstitious ideology? Do you feel socially or culturally isolated because you do not subscribe to popular ideology and superstition?

According to statistics, more than fifteen percent of the American population do not subscribe to any specific religious ideology. There are more non-theists in our culture than many other popular minority groups, yet they have very little representation in mainstream media and society. Non-believers, agnostics, atheists, and freethinkers are everywhere, but often afraid to admit their lack of faith for fear of discrimination and prejudice. NOFT is an oasis of rationality where you can meet and discuss these often-controversial issues with other open-minded people. Ours is a support and social group first and foremost, which also aspires to promote the idea of freethought and contribute to the community in many of the same ways ideological groups do.
